When my wife and I first started this business I never looked at it as a ministry. My feeling was that we would make money from selling chocolate and donate a portion of the proceeds to charitable causes that we believed would help further the kingdom of God. One of our own personal missions was to spread the gospel in the unique way of inserting Bible verses inside of our Promise Hollow Chocolates. However what we thought would be a simple and easy business idea, has not come without its fair share of tough challenges. Most especially in this past year or so.
For myself things have changed in the sense of what direction this business opportunity is going in. The idea that God set before us years ago regarding this business is starting to look a little different and we are sensing that the business is to be worked more as a ministry and less as a business. Although we love chocolate and want you to love it too, we have been more focused on the future and what it looks like to run this business as a ministry.
In all honesty we had this hope that we would one day be able to just give away thousands of our chocolate hollows but as of yet, financially, that day still hasn’t come. I’ve actually been asked by various people if there was a way they could help contribute to furthering our mission of handing out hollows and spreading God’s word without having to purchase a boxed collection of chocolate. We’ve had people who don’t necessarily like chocolate but they love the concept behind our chocolates and still want to help spread the gospel by way of our Promise Hollows. That’s how the idea of a donations page was born.
There are times when I still have trouble calling this a ministry. I’ve never felt qualified or up to the task of ministering to others. Most of all I felt unworthy and wondered why God would want to use me. Well it has become more and more evident that I am being called to step up and set aside any doubts and fears that I have to share and speak about the gospel with others. My wife and I really want others to know just how good our God is. These promises from the Bible are REAL and they weren’t just for the ancient days. They were relevant yesterday, they still are today and they will be tomorrow as well. So we are doubling down on a Christian business and we are doubling down on spreading the gospel through our hollows. Instead of trying to be “like everyone else” we want to be unique but more importantly do what God has called us to do.
We are all in and have put everything on the line for this opportunity. There have been many instances in our life where things haven’t made sense, at least not in a worldly view. However, we are called to live by faith and we believe that if God has put it on YOUR heart to sow into this ministry through donating, purchasing chocolate or just praying for us, God will use every one of those instances to draw people to Christ.
We are still waiting for the day that God makes his plans known to us before we get started on a particular project but until that day comes we trust in Him and we are grateful for your support!
